Perimenopause Isn’t Your Fault: The Truth Behind the Chaos and Confusion

Perimenopause Isn’t Your Fault: Why You’re Not to Blame for the Confusion and Overwhelm

Let’s start with the truth: perimenopause isn’t your fault. Not the hot flashes, not the mood swings, not the 3 a.m. wakeups, and definitely not the soul-sucking confusion around what the heck is happening to your body. You’re not failing, you’re navigating a season that no one prepared you for. And I’m here to tell you, it’s not on you.

We’ve been set up with impossible expectations. Society whispers (sometimes shouts) that we should age like celebrities—with glowing skin, flat abs, and a stress-free vibe fueled by private chefs, personal trainers, and concierge medicine. But let’s be real: that’s not the average woman’s perimenopause experience.

The Midlife Double Standard

We’re bombarded with messages that youth = beauty, productivity = value, and getting older means fading into the background. Add in social media influencers pushing unregulated supplements and miracle fixes, and it’s no wonder so many women feel lost and discouraged.

Even in the wellness and menopause space, the playing field isn’t fair. When a celebrity says, “This one supplement saved me!” it doesn’t come with disclaimers. It doesn’t account for their access to elite healthcare or their ability to nap mid-afternoon while someone else handles the dishes and carpool. It doesn’t mention how some of those trendy supplements can actually be unsafe or interact with your medications.

Misinformation Overload + Lack of Education = A Hot Mess

It’s the Wild West out here. Influencers without any formal training or certification are sharing hormone hacks and lifestyle advice with no understanding of scope of practice, no licensing board to check them, and no safety net for the women listening. And when we don’t know who to trust, we fall into a cycle of diet culture, over-supplementing, and second-guessing our instincts.

Meanwhile, the medical system is only just starting to catch up. Most doctors, pharmacists, and nurses haven’t been trained to treat menopause. And yet we’re expected to navigate this complex hormonal transition with no roadmap and no real support.

Here’s What I Know for Sure:

You’re not broken.
You’re not lazy.
You’re not doing this wrong.

You’re a woman in midlife trying to thrive in a world that hasn’t yet caught up to your brilliance. You’re juggling work, caregiving, relationships, and your own health with a strength that deserves applause—not shame.

As a menopause health coach and certified integrative women’s health specialist, my goal is to give you real tools—not quick fixes. I want you to feel strong, informed, and confident enough to move through this season on your own terms.

This isn’t about shrinking yourself. It’s about expanding into who you really are.
