What Does Health Really Mean to You? Redefining Wellness in Midlife

Let me ask you something: When was the last time you stopped to really think about what health means to you?

Not what your doctor told you.
Not what the fitness influencers on Instagram say.
Not even what your best friend is doing with her new meal plan or Peloton streak.

But you. Your life. Your body. Your values.

If that question feels a little overwhelming—or even unfamiliar—you’re not alone. Most of the women I work with have spent decades chasing external definitions of health. Diets, programs, plans... you name it. And still, something feels off. Something feels missing.

This Isn’t a Cookie-Cutter Health Plan

Here's the thing: I don’t do one-size-fits-all. Ever. Because midlife health isn’t a formula, it’s a deeply personal evolution. And it all starts with getting clear on your vision of health.

What do you want your body and life to feel like in 1 year? In 5 years? In 20?

Are you dreaming of hiking through the mountains with ease? Playing on the floor with your grandkids without wincing in pain? Traveling solo across Europe without asking for help lifting your bag?

Or maybe it’s simpler than that: You want to wake up and not ache. You want to move your body without dread. You want to feel like you again.

Let Go of the "Shoulds"

Health isn’t about fitting into your jeans from 1999. It’s not about six-pack abs or bikini bodies, unless that’s what genuinely lights you up (and even then, you get to decide how far you want to go).

It's about energy. Joy. Connection. Strength. Movement that feels good. Boundaries that protect your peace. Rest that restores you.

So I want you to take a deep breath. Exhale all the B.S. society has thrown at us for decades Teen Vogue, diet culture, “bikini body” nonsense. Let it go.

You get to define what healthy looks like now.

Here's Your Midlife Homework

Take five minutes today. Just five. Sit quietly. Journal. Walk. Drive. Whatever works.

Ask yourself:

  • What does my healthiest life look like?

  • How do I want to feel in one year? In five?

  • What kind of support do I need to get there?

Write it down. Name it. Claim it. And give yourself permission to pivot. Because if something isn’t working, or never truly fit, you don’t have to keep dragging it with you.

From Vision to Action

Once you know what you’re working toward, everything else becomes clearer: What to prioritize. What to say yes to. What to finally let go of. This is the very first step I walk my coaching clients through, and it’s always powerful.

It’s also deeply yours.

No judgment. No pressure. No comparison traps. Just you getting radically honest with yourself about what you want in this next season of life.

Let’s Keep the Conversation Going
